Rain Bird timer

Question
Hi, I have been reading where a nicked wire or bas solenoid will pop the fuse on the older ESP models. I have one, about 14 years old now, that has never failed to work. Until now. It popped the fuse, so I replaced it (I used a 1amp AGC, which is what was in there) and it seemed to be fine. This morning, no water, so I check it and it has blown another fuse. I replaced that, and the instant I plugged the transformer back in, it popped. Twice. It was not in 'water' mode. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

Answer
Hey Bill, it could be out in the field (wire, solenoid, etc.) or it could be in the controller itself. To tell if the problem is in the controller, or out in the field, open up the controller, and find the terminal strip in the back of the controller. One terminal screw will be marked C for common. Unscrew the screw and take off the common field wire. Now with the new fuse in place, plug in the transformer. If the fuse continues to blow, then the problem is in the controller, if the fuse doesn't blow, then the problem is out in the field. Good luck and have a great day.
