Irritrol Kwikdial System

Question
Hello,

I have a problem with my irritrol kwikdial System.  I have programmed the system so i have 4 zones throughout my garden. When the sprinklers come on the system becomes very inconsistent and erratic in its behavior. Zone 1 will come on for the prescribed time and then when it switches over to Zone 2 the system shuts down - when I go to the controller the battery symbol is on.  This will disappear after 30 seconds.  On other occasions it will get through the first 2 zones then part the way through the 3rd it will shut down - same issue when I go to the controller...battery symbol.  I read in the control manual that there is a memory backup power, is this an internal battery that could be failing?  A few weeks ago i was getting the same problem but the words "FUSE" was coming up on the screen but it seemed to fix itself.  Not sure if it is the same issue or not.

Answer
Hi Mark
There is only a 9V battery on the faceplate back. The fus message is related to a problem with the wiring or a faulty selenoid. First check the wiring from the controller to the valves selenoids, be sure there is not a short. (This a 24V system).
If no issues found replace the selenoids (here in the US the cost is about $8 per unit).
I had found this resolves the problem. But when it's persist the only way is to replace the controller. You can replace with a Rain Bird ESP the basic unit for 4 statiions cost about $70 (in the US).

Guillermo
