Winterizing

Question
Jim,

I have a Rain Jet rjc 6 system.  I just recently moved into the house and the seller did not retain any of the instructions for the system.  I figured out how it works and have done some minor repairs using online guides, but can't find any instruction on how to winterize it.  Would you be able to help?

Thank you,

Andrew

Answer
Hey Andrew, not knowing how your system is installed, I couldn't give you specific instructions, but I hope this will help. The best way to winterize, is to hook up an air compressor at the main turn on valve for your system. With the main valve shut off, and the air compressor building up pressure, turn on 1 valve at a time, until all the water is shot out of the heads, and all you hear is air coming out of the heads. Then build up the pressure again, and turn on the next valve. Continue this process until all the valves are blown out. There should be irrigation companies around you that might provide this service, if you don't want to do it yourself. Most companies charge between $50 to $100 depending on how big the system is. Good luck and have a great day.
