tomatoes in containers in ground

Question
I started seeds that are now 2' in the house. I want to plant them in the 5 qt ice cream container they are in outside in a worked up garden.  I have about 4 - 1/2" holes
in the bottom for drainage and roots to grow out of.  Should I make more, bigger?  Will this work?  I was hoping to reuse these containers each year.  The tomatoes are large as well as smaller variety.

Answer
Dear Marie,
I don't understand why you would need to use containers in the ground.  5 qt. ice cream buckets really aren't very big for a tomato plant.  If I plant a tomato or pepper in a pot, to have on the deck or something, I use a 5 gallon pot, and that is usually the small varieties, like cherry or Roma.
I wish you well.
Kind Regards,
Kindred
