Tomatoes and Peppers

Question
I have tomatoes and peppers in an Earth box.  This worked very well for me last year.  But I was wondering if I should "prune" them?  Last year someone asked if I cut off the limbs that were not producing, and I had never thought about it.  Is this something I should start doing?  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Barb:
It is not necessary, but there are some benefits. I've got an article about the subject on my blog:

Here's another article: http://mygardentotable.com/2010/06/20/training-tomato-vines/ note that this is a young plant - , you may have a harder time determining what is a sucker vs. productive stems if your plants are larger.

By the way, peppers should not be pruned, and neither should determinate-type tomatoes, so make sure you know which type yours are. Feel free to follow up if you have more questions.
