Potato disease on leaves

Question
My potatoes are blooming and looked great last week I noticed a few plants have leaves that are rolling up. What is the cause of this?  should I pull these plants or leave them? There are about 6 to 8  plants that this is happening to out of about 100 plants.  We have had a lot of rain this year could that be a factor?

Answer
Curled leaves are very common when the soil is excessively wet due to rain. What happens is that the roots can not absorb nutrients due to them being saturated and the soil being depleted from the rain. I would leave the plants since there is a good chance they will recover once the weather stabilizes. The harvest will be less than the what you receive from the other plants, but even if you only get a few potatoes or they are slightly smaller, there is no risk in leaving them in the ground.

Good luck, and please write again if I can ever provide assistance.

Regards,

Mike
