use of plant tone and/or flower tone on indoor plants

Question
Can I use plant tone on rest season and flower
tone when buds start or just before.
Specifically a jasmine and a dwarf orange tree
that does fruit.  They are in a blooming mode of
twice a year (both of them at the same time). I
need to know if I can mix the two tones and how
often.  Thanks, Kristina

Answer
Plant tone 5-3-3 is fine to use on most perennial plants especially as they resume growth in early spring.

If you have them as houseplants then it can be used also but during rest periods they seldom need much fertilizer. if you plan on using, use it sparingly and do not reapply often. during rest periods, it is better to air on side of too little than too much.

Flower tone 3-5-7 is excellent for flowering and fruiting plants. espeically the extra potassium for the fruiting is very beneficial.  You can also consider garden-tone 4-6-6 but flower tone is just as fine. Once budding start, fertilize reguarily according to directions on the lable.

It is prefectly ok to mix them, e.g. start with one and when budding occurs then switch to another. this is how most growers fertilize their plants.

Note: ESPOMA has a tendency to give very liberal recommendations when it comes to feeding. Sprinkle the fertilizer lightly around the base of the plants. do not heap the products.
