re-potting avocado tree

Question
Hello and thank you for taking time to answer my question! I have become quite attached to my two foot tall avocado tree that I grew from a pit. Well I decided it was getting too big for its pot so I replanted it in a terracotta pot 50 bigger than the last one (although the last one was plastic). I soaked the pot first, then put the soil in and did the whole normal potting routine. It's been three days though and my baby looks like wilted spinach! It's awful. How can I help it escape death and come out of shock? I feel like I should just leave it alone. I watered it very well during the transplant...I just want its leaves perky again! Please help!

Answer
Hi Rebekah, It sounds like your baby is going through severe transplant shock; when you transplanted it you probably (unintentionally..) disturbed the root system and disrupted the secondary roots; all you can do now is back off it and hope that it shows a resurgence of growth. Give it time, and easy on the water now, until it show some new growth, and keep it in a dappled shady area until it does....I'll cross my finger for you..Nick
