Rain Lily – Identification #2

Q: I dug these flowers up as bulbs during a turkey hunting trip, and have babied them for years.

They come up each year and bloom near Easter, seed out, and then disappear until next year. I plant the seeds I get about finger deep.

A: My colleague Shannon Pable thinks it’s a rain lily, Zephyranthes atamasca, although the petals are wider and more reflexed (curved backward) than I’m used to seeing.
