Aquilegia canadensis Corbett

This airy perennial has delicate dark-green leaves and many nodding, light-yellow flowers from mid-spring to midsummer. 

Noteworthy Characteristics: 

Not as robust as the species and won't reseed as heavily. U.S. native.

Care: 

Grow in full sun to part shade and moist but well-drained soil. It is tolerant of most soils, but prefers rich, moist ones and part shade.

Propagation: 

Sow seed in a cold frame in spring. Can divide cultivars in spring but plants respond slowly to root disturbance.

Problems: 

Powdery mildew, rust, fungal leaf spots. Aphids, leaf miners, and caterpillars.
