Garden Walling And Making Your Own Garden Wall

For many their garden is their pride and joy and they will spend hours and hours there trying to make it as beautiful as they can. There are loads of different sorts of accessories that one might want to place into their gardens to improve their look. One of these might be to build a small garden wall in order to fence of a particular area. Here are a few thoughts on garden walling.

By building your own garden wall rather than enlisting the aid of a professional you will be able to save money and have a bit of fun whilst doing so. There is no reason why building a simple stone wall in your garden should be a difficult task. All you need are the right materials and then a plan of what to do. First of all, you should consider the foundations. In order to guarantee a safe sturdy wall it is a good idea to build a small trench about 50 cm wide and 20 deep and fill it halfway with cement in order to create a firm base.

Once this is done you can consider how high you want your wall to be. This will depend massively on what sort of wall you are building. For any wooden fencing you are free to build higher, but for the purposes of a stone wall it is common to build up to about a metre.

Now all you need to do is get your materials together. You will need to buy a decent selection of stones of varying sizes. You may choose to get all plat ones or curved ones. You will also need to get yourself some cement mix and a means of mixing it.

When you start off with the wall you should make sure that the base is made up of all large flat stones. From here you should try to find some smaller ones to build it up. If you are only using flat stones your job should be an easy one and you can shape your wall as you wish. If you are going for curved stones then you can have a lot of fun trying to fit all of the stones together.

Again at the top of the wall make sure that you have more flat stones to finish it all if you have used a lot of curved stones. You can then customise your wall as you wish by adding plants and flowers along the base. One nice idea is to get creepers that will begin to populate the wall over time and provide it with a bit of company.

These are just a few ideas on making you own garden wall.
