You will surely notice when the orchid needs to be watered. The leaves may turn crinkled and the roots are not firm and fleshy at all.
However, it is also important not to soak the orchid with too much water. This is to avoid rotting. This is if you are using pots. So make sure that the pots have holes in it to drench the excess water out.

Right temperature

The recommended temperature is around 60-85 degrees. Proper ventilation is also a must because as you know, these plants are aerial in the wild and they need constant "movement" with the flow of the wind.

In case your orchid is inside your house, you need to place it near a well ventilated area like right on top of a ceiling fan or beside a window. Just make sure that it is not fully exposed to the sun's rays.

Fertilize

Fertilizers are also essential in growing orchid plants. A lot of these can be purchased in gardening stores or you can search on it online. Fertilizers should be diluted in water and it should be rich in nitrogen. Just remember to flush the orchid with water to prevent salt build up since it may kill the roots of the plant.

Repotting

You will surely notice when an orchid is growing successfully once the roots are bulging out of the pot. This means that you have to get a bigger size of pot so as not to suffocate the orchid's roots and to let it grow more. Prepare the necessary materials in repotting and carefully transfer it into a new pot.
