How much honey will I get from one colony?  Catherine Herrick  (Kitty), new UR Board member with more than twenty years beekeeping experience, will be sharing her beekeeping expertise Saturday March 10th at 10am at Urban Roots. A two part workshop Part 1 will cover the the basics of getting started, types of hives, equipment and space requirements on March10th. Part 2, on April 21, will be more of a hands on experience-discussing managing your hive, flowers that bees love, identifying workers, drones and the queen, and extracting honey-with a possible visit to a local apiary. Whether you are a curious urban homesteader or a potential fellow beekeeper please join us as we explore the joys of urban beekeeping.
