Growing Physostegia (False Dragonhead)

Growing Physostegia (False Dragonhead)

Pronunciation: fie-so-stee'gee-uh

Full sun or partial shade. Best in average to damp soil. Can be invasive, especially in moist conditions; lift and divide every 2-3 years to keep it in check. (P. virginiana 'Variegata' is less vigorous than other Physostegias and therefore less likely to spread.) If your plants have a tendency to flop, pinch them back by ½ in late spring to keep them compact.
