Growing Gerbera (Gerber Daisy)

Growing Gerbera (Gerber Daisy)

Pronunciation: gur'-bur-uh

Gerbera Daisies are available in a wide range of bright colors (some with contrasting dark centers). Their rich, saturated colors and full, daisy-like form are hard to resist.

Light/Watering: Grow in full sun and water when the top 1/2in of the soil is dry. If brought indoors for the winter, keep the soil moist but avoid watering the crown.

Fertilizer/Soil: Plant in a well-drained, moderately rich soil and fertilize every 4 weeks during the growing season. Provide good air circulation and keep water off the leaves if possible.

Pests and Diseases: Powdery mildew, gray mold, and crown rot can be a problem if grown in less than ideal conditions.

Companions: Plant solo in a decorative container or combine with foliage plants.
