Maintaining a Bonsai Tree

A bonsai tree is basically a tree that is cultivated to be a miniature version of the kind or specie of tree it is. The art of bonsai actually originated in China and spread to Japan and eventually around the entire world. The appeal of the bonsai tree is universal because the miniature tree can be manipulated to represent something which is difficult to do with larger trees. Many also believe that the presence of a bonsai tree can be calming and soothing for an individual. There are various designs for a bonsai tree and each design is beautiful and artistic. There are many ways to maintain the state of the miniature tree.

Pruning and Cutting

These are part of how to properly maintain a bonsai tree. The miniature tree needs to be routinely pruned, cut and trimmed to maintain its design. For many bonsai owners, pruning, trimming and cutting are all part of how to bond with the bonsai tree. This maintenance is basically a very good sign that the owner is taking care of his bonsai and would like to promote its growth. The attention that the bonsai tree owner lavish on the miniature tree can actually encourage the tree to grow well and wealthily. True to what many gardeners say, plants like attention and grow well when they are well cared for and talked to or played music to. Of course, when the bonsai tree owner prunes and trims the trees, these are signs of caring and often he or she talks to the plants and sometimes may also sing to them.

Trimming the roots is also another maintenance procedure that is usually done by the owner of the bonsai tree. This maintenance procedure actually requires the bonsai owner to take out the bonsai from the pot it has been for the past one or two years and then to trim off the excess roots. The reason for doing this is to keep the miniature tree from being crowded in its pot and to help it with its growth and health.

The bonsai tree care and maintenance is essential for the growth and health of the plant. Not only is its outward appearance relevant but also that it is growing well and is adapted to its environment. The bonsai tree can live up to several decades with the right care and attention. The care and maintenance of an outdoor bonsai tree and that of indoor one may be slightly different.
