female holly bush

2016/8/3 18:14:59

Question
Tom, I noticed my female holly bush is not doing well. The leaves are drying out and falling off. I've had this bush for about 8 years. Is there anything I can do?
Thanks,
Lisa

Answer
Hi Lisa,
Thanx for your question. Make sure the bush is getting water regularly. Once a week, soak the base of the tree if you're not having regular rain. Fertilize with a balanced fertilizer. There are fertilizer spikes that will slow-release into the soil available at DIY stores or nurseries. If the leaves continue to fall off, contact your local county extension service. They'll often let you bring in a sample in case this is some kind of pathological condition. If you need contact info, let me know your county and state. I hope this helps.
Tom
