daffodils and tulips

Question
Hi,
I planted a bunch of daffodil and tulip bulbs 2 years ago, and this year they came up but had no flowers.  I also planted some new daffodils this past year and the greens came up but no flowers. What might be the reason for this? Might it be the strange weather pattern this year? Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jessica,
Thanx for your question.  There could be a number of reason while your daffodil and tulip bulbs did not bloom.  If there is any excess nitrogen from lawn chemicals, this can cause all green growth an no blooms.  Not enough sunlight. Occasionally, bulbs will not flower the first year after they've been planted but two years should be plenty of time.  A sufficient period of cold is required for blooming too.  If it has been unusually warm in your area, this can be a contributing factor.  If you've had an unusually cold winter that can delay blooming too.  I hope this helps.
Tom
