Prayer plant flowering

Question
I have a question about a prayer plant. I have had it for about 6 months and it flowering right now. The stem currently has little purple flowers on it, but I was wondering when there are no more flowers should I cut that stem off? I was pleasantly surprised when it started flowering and would like to do whatever I can to keep it happy.

Answer
Dear Laura,

Well your prayer plant is obviously very happy!  Yes cut off the flower stem - in actual fact conventional wisdom has it that you should cut off the stem when the flowers first bloom as it is taking strength away from the plant but I never do as they look pretty!

Keep the soil moist, mist the plant occasionally to increase humidity, sponge the leaves to keep them clean and insect free and position the plant in semi shade, never bright light or in the sun as the colours will fade.  Feed it every two weeks.

I am sure your plant will continue growing beautifully.
