Slow growth of plants

Question
Hi,
I find that whenever I plant something, it takes a very long time (1 year or more) for it to stabilize and grow tall. Is the soil lacking nutrients? I add compost & Osmocote while planting new plants & water as required.
Thanks for your time in advance.

Answer
Hi Sumathi
cultural practices are important for establishment and development however you still have to consider the site enviroment and weather conditions that exist for that season. These are both factors that directly affect development. bad wateher that season, poor growth. to shady or to wet or to dry at the site. poor growth. the soil ph balance off, poor growth. Try a soil test and find out whats going on and then go from there.  Good Luck  Larry  ;-)
