i want to start a vegetable garden but the soil is very clayey, how do i improve it?

Hi Pru, Till the garden to loosen the soil.  Then add a couple of inches of leaves, grass clippings, compost, finely ground pine bark, manure or a combination of these.  Till again.  Check your pH and adjust it to 6.5 if need be. You're ready to plant!  Jim
