using seeds direct from fruit/veggie...

Question
hi. and thanks for your time in advance.
i would like to use seeds direct from green/red bell peppers and also apples. and would plant them next season. could you please tyell me what to do to prepare these seeds?
many thanks!
mike.

Answer
Mike, propagation from seed is a relatively easy process.  The key is to keep them dry and cool.

Harvest the seeds and place them in a brown paper bag.  Be sure to store the bag in a dry location.  After about two weeks, shake the bag and carefully remove the dislocated seeds.

Place the seeds in a ziplock bag and store them in the back of your refrigerator in a plastic tupperware container.  After a dormant period of at least three months, and after your last expected frost next spring, the seeds can be planted.  Pepper seeds will remain viable for at least two years.

I hope this answered your question.  Good luck, and have a great week.

Regards,

Mike
