3 quick questions for my daughter. 3rd grade

Question
1. If you grow a plant from a cutting will a bulb grow?
2. Can all plants grow from cuttings.
3. Does a plant grown from a bulb produce seeds?
My daughter and I have searched around the web and can't seem to find the answers.

Answer
Hello Wayne,
I don't know of any plants that will produce a bulb from a cutting, but, I could be wrong.  I am not a botanist, but a simple gardener.  Lilies and other bulbaceous plants will not grow from cuttings.  These bulbaceous plants are propagated by seed or by dividing (separating) multiple bulbs or in some cases stripping of scales (some bulbs have scales like a lizard and you can pull the scale off with a piece of the bottom of the bulb and it will produce a new plant.).  Many plants can be produced from cuttings but there are some that cannot.  I do not know all of the plants that can and cannot.  Plants like tulips, daffodils, lilies, irises, cannas, cannot be be grown from cuttings.  Plants grown from bulbs will produce seed.    I hope this helps.
Tom
