Pumps

Question
I have an inside table fountain in which I have just replaced the pump. The pump is not working. Exactly how much of the pump should be covered with water? The fountain instructions said to wait 5 minutes to let the flow get going before unplugging the fountain and checking the pump. Did I burn the pump up as no water ever appeared flowing from the fountain? Finally the pump has been stored (in the original packaging) in the garage during the winter. Will that harm the pump?

THANK YOU!

Answer
Hi,
If it is a submersible pump it should be completely covered by the water ,there should not be any damage  by storing the pump over winter.
does the pump make a noise when it is switched on?
Is the impellor blocked ?
Has the fuse blown?
if it dosn't make a noise when it's swiched on  check the fuse first. BUT REMEMBER UNPLUG IT FIRST.
George
