What size and what kind of wet vac do you recommend to clean a pond? I plan to drain it with the pump I have. I just need something to suck the muck out of the bottom. Should this vacuum be dedicated to the pond or can I use it around the house in between pond cleanings?

The power needed for a sludge vac is completely dependent on how long/what diameter the intake tube is.  I tried (and succeeded) to make my own and it turned out just as expensive as a store-bought one would have been.  I would look for 2 hp or around 2 hp.
