hydrangea pruning, not flowering

Question
In the summer of 2005, my daughter's puppy chewed almost every last bit of my hydrangea leaving me with about 3" of nubs.  I thought it was a goner but it came back with beautiful foliage this year.  But...no flowers.  Is it doomed or shall I wait one more year for it to recover?

Answer
If this was a Hydrangea arborescens ('Annabelle' is a common cultivar) or H. macrophylla, of which there are many, many varieties, it will almost certainly bloom again next year.  If it was one of the taller-growing shrubs such as 'Peegee', you may have to wait a couple of years before it will bloom again.
