micro mini african violets

Question
Hello
I just purchased several micro mini AV's and was wondering if you had any tips for the proper growing of these teeny tiny violets. I believe they were called Sinningia's. I thougt they might look nice in my terrarium. But they are so tiny and fragile that I am afraid I might mishandle them without more knowledge. Can you help?

Answer
You handle these tiny beauties as you would regular violets, just be very gentle when handling them.  They need lots of humidity, which they will get in a terrarium.  They should not be over-watered, because that will cause root rot and will kill the plant. And, remember to dilute the fertilizer or plant food half-strength. There is a fine line to walk when you have a terrarium.  It is like a little eco-system on its own, and if covered properly may not need watering for weeks at a time.  Also, don't place in full sunlight.  They need light, but full direct light will cause a dangerous rise in temperature and could burn the leaves, also too much condensation which results in too much water.  Every few weeks remove the covering so all the plants can get some fresh air. These are very enjoyable to keep.  Would love to see photos!
