Pachira Tree Turning Yellow and Brown Leaves

Question
QUESTION: I have a 5' tall Pachira Tree.  I've noticed recently that most of the leaves are turning yellow and then brown.  I was watering weekly, but now have cut back to every other week.

What can I do to get my plant back to normal.

ANSWER: Steve, I need a history, how long it was in the ground, where you live, how cold are the nights, anything different in the last month, ie. watering more then normal, anything leaching into the soil etc...Nick

QUESTION: Tree has been in the same window location for the past 6 months.  It is potted and I've been watering weekly or bi-weekly for the past 3 months.  The tree is in a south facing window and get indirect light all day.  It's never been outdoors.  Hope this helps.  Looking for your reply.

Answer
therein lies your problem Steve, if you check the bottom of the pot you will probably find the plant is pot bound, and the water is not being distributed evenly when you water it. I would repot in a larger pot with a new medium, this time line the bottom with pea stone so there is a better drainage to keep the roots from sitting in standing water. Nick
