dying Bouganvilla

Question
I just planted my bouganvilla against the house about a month ago, and it seems to be dying already. I have only watered it about twice a week for literally like 5 minutes each time, so I am not sure if I am underwatering it or maybe there is another issue. the leaves are turning brown and falling off.
Help!

Answer
Hi Ashley, Bougs are one of those rare plants that require extremely low water intake; believe it or not, you have over watered it. Initially give it a 2 minute watering, when first planted, then let it be and mother nature will pretty much take it over from there. I never water my Bougs, even though I am always tempted during the hot Florida afternoons, and they thrive with little or no water, they really are amazing when it comes to this; so back off the water, and they will most assuredly start to look better for you. The only other problem they develop is if the leaves begin to get eaten and chewed with no obvious culprit; at night, slugs and night feeding caterpillars will sometimes attack your Bougs and this chewing of the leaves is their doing..regards Nick
