Bouganvillea

Question
I bought my Bougainvillea this summer and it loved the garden but since I have brought it indoors all the leaves are falling off. We don't have a conservatory so it is in the lounge, not in direct sunlight & not near a radiator. I am watering it once a week, but it doesn't look at all well. Please can you advise me what to do. Thank you

Answer
Hi Linda, Bougs need direct sun and warm conditions, your plant shed its leaves because of the change in location, which would have occured as a normal transition, the problem is that for it to turn around it would need that sunny location; Bougs are tropical by nature and if you are in a colder climate zone, they obviously can't be kept outside. I wish I could give you an alternative, but without that source of direct sunlight it will tough for your Boug to make it through the winter. The only possible alternative is a sun lamp or grow light.
