hibiscus sucker

Question
Hello again Nick
I have left the little sucker in place all summer. But now the parent does not look as healthy. It has grown exponentially as far as green but it only bloomed about 3 times this summer on the patio.
I am wondering if I should just remove the sucker before I move it into the house for the winter. If so, how? thanks again
susan

Answer
Hi again Sue, the sucker is taking away energy from the parent, I would sever it from the parent and wait awhile before taking the parent in, this will give it time to collect the needed energy its going to need , when it is inside in a less favorable environment. Spray the parent with a foliar fertilizer (chelated palm foliar spray will do fine), this will give it a needed boost. Nick
