Foxtail palm trees

Question
Another, probably silly question, but my 2 new foxtails still have a seed attached to the stem/root. is this something that stays there or will eventually fall off? Also, up here there are lots of malls that have palm trees in pots, hopefully mine will be able to thrive in pots too. You have been a huge help and i hope to be able to rely on ur help in the future, thanks again

Answer
The seed pod will disappear, but it is providing nutrients to the seedling right now, and once a root system is developed, they will begin to take over that job , at that time the seed will break away. The palms you see in containers in malls and outside government buildings etc., are not happy campers, they exist but under a stressful situation. Palms belong in the ground, where they can expand their root systems well beyond the cramped conditions of even the largest of containers.
