Confederate rose

Question
I live in S.E.Texas where it is very hot and humid.  Winters are very mild.  Someone just gave me 3 confederate rose trees/bushes.(?)  How do I take care of these? Fertilize?  Prune?  What is the care during winter?  Thanks, Karen

Answer
Here is a web link to care of Confederate rose. A good fertilizer ratio for hibiscus is 12-4-18 or a揾igh bloom?water-soluble fertilizer.Slow-release granular fertilizers, like Osmocote, can be used in combination withwater soluble fertilizer when irrigating.Magnesium sulfate, also called Epsomsalt, gives hibiscus foliage a good dark green color. Add at the rate of one table-spoon per gallon of pot size to pots on amonthly schedule during the growing season. You can also spray magnesium sulfate on the foliage at the rate of one tablespoon per gallon of water. Epsom saltdoes not change the soil pH. It is considered pH neutral.
