New growth from Bradford roots

Question
I have a couple of new growths coming out of the root of my Bradford Pear tree.  The tree has been planted in my front yard for almost two years.  Can I cut off part of the root (that has the new growth coming up) and transplant it somewhere else to grow another tree?  Will it harm my current tree?  Do I need to plant the new growth in a pot for a while?

Answer
These are called suckers or sprouts. They come from the root system of the original tree. They do not have a root system of their own so digging them up and cutting the root section will only harm the parent tree. The growth of suckers takes away from the foliage of the tree and these should be pruned off as they come up.
