2 Big Cottonwoods

Question
I have 2 big cottonwood trees in my front yard.  The roots are sprouting out more little trees.  I would like to know what is the best solution to stop or control this.  I'm real tired of cutting them off because they grow back so fast.  But I don't want to get rid of my trees because they provide much shade.  It never used to be so bad but now there are lots more.  Thank you for your time and have a great day.

Answer
There are products that will slow or stop the growth of sprouts. They are called growth retardants and come under several names. One of these is called    Tre-Hold SPROUT INHIBITOR. These are sprayed on the sprouts stopping their growth. I would check with a local nursery for one of the growth retardants. Other wise just keep cutting them of as they come up.
