giant oak near house

Question
A large, beautiful willow oak grows about five feet from our sunporch.  The tree is about sixty years old.  My husband thinks it needs to come down because he is afraid the roots are going to damage the foundation, etc., or the tree is going to fall on the house.  The tree looks healthy and strong and has been trimmed so more of the limbs are on the side away from the house.  We live in southwest Arkansas.  I have been reading about this tree, which is used along streets in major cities.  Looks like they wouldn't plant this tree there if there was a problem with blowing over or roots destroying things.  We're at a standstill and need some expert advice.  Thank you.

Answer
The tree has withstood "60"  years of weather and it is healthy there is no reason to believe that the tree is in danger of falling. Hazard trees are those that the foliage is thinning and/ or there are large limbs that have broken off that showed signs of being hollow.  Sounds like none of this is happening here so I would not be concerned with this tree falling and enjoy the shade in the hot Ark. summers.
