lindon tree

Question
The linden tree I have is drawing bee's. What can I do and is this common to linden tree's?

Answer
More than likely the tree has either a scale insect or aphids. Both of these insects suck the plant juices from the tree and secrete a substance called honeydew which is high is sugar content and sticky. the bees are gathering the free food form the secretion of the insects. I would treat the tree with an insecticide called Bayer Advanced Tree and Shrub Insect Control. This is applied to the soil around the tree and the roots will carry it to the leaves and twigs. And when the insects suck the plant juices they are killed,. It will take a couple of weeks for the insecticide to reach the upper foliage of the tree. When the insect are killed the honeydew will go away and the bees will also.
