Sick Bradford Pear Tree

Question
Thinning Bradford Pear
Thinning Bradford Pear
Hello Jim,

I have a Bradford Pear that is about 15 years old and is thinning drastically.  I dont see leaves falling off but the tree.  I live near Houston Texas.  I am providing a picture.  There is another tree on the right side of the pix; that tree is doing fine.  Can you tell what might be going on with this tree?  I am worried sick I may lose that tree.

Thanks

Answer
I would fertilize the tree with 10-10-10 fertilizer at the rate of 1 lb of fertilizer per inch of trunk diameter scattered around the tree and watered in good--apply the fertilizer just before a rain storm and you will not need to water. Do this now and again in the spring. This will encourage root development and foliage growth.
