green mountain boxwood

Question
We are planing on planting some boxxwoods around our raised foundation. Are the shrubs suited for that type of use, also are green mountain boxwoods considered evergreens? Do they keep their foilage yearround? We would appreciate any info on this shrub/tree.                     Thank you very much.        Waldemar

Answer
Hello Waldemer,

All boxwoods are evergreen regardless of the variety. Boxwoods will do well in a raised foundation planting as long as its in a sunny area and the soil well drained. The variety Green Mountain is one of the more upright growing boxwoods (up to 5 feet) and doesn't get more than 3 feet wide. Boxwoods are relatively slow growing long lived  shrubs that do not require a lot of maintenance.
