Pittosporum

Question
I have a very tall pittosporum (approx. 15 ft) which needs to be pruned.  We went in an cut out all the dead wood in the middle, but wanted advice (or direction) on how to prune the sides.  Ideally, I would like to make the middle of the plant a little greener.

Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jill
this shrub can be pruned and shaped any way you wish it.
if you cut it down it would grow back in a few years. for your problem i would cut branches so that light can penetrate to the inside that will allow growth to start.
cut all touching branches or crossing branches  that appear to crowd main ones, make sure they have ample space between them, cut off long side stems to shape evenly.  Good Luck  Larry  ;-)
