cherry laurels

Question
I was wondering if it is too late for me a trim back my cherry laurels that are bigger than I want them to be and too close to my front windows. We have had a light frost one night recently I don't know if that matters or not. Also the shrubs are about 5 yrs old and in pretty good shape otherwise. Oh I live in Maryland.  Thanks for your help

Answer
Sure, you can trim them now. The only problem is that you may be removing some of their potential to bloom next spring. I doubt if the freezing weather would harm them if you prune now. In fact, they will look neater longer becaue there will be no new growth until spring. Since they are in front of the windows, go ahead and prune them as much as you want and just live with fewer blooms next year. The best time to prune is just after they bloom, which you can do again next year if necessary. Good Luck, Doug. PS Sorry for the delayed reply. I think there was a problem with the site as I answered you a few days ago but I don;t think you received the reply.
