Texas sage (shrub) pruning

Question
Doug, in-laws have two overgrown, lanky Texas sage shrubs in their new yard (Zone 7 TX). Prune how? How much? When?  Please...

Thanks!

Answer
Sorry for the delay. My earlier answer was apparently lost by the system. Go ahead and prune them anytime. The recommended time is February or March. You may prune as much as 1/3 of the sage back and it will not harm them. If you want to prune more you can since they are overgrown.

Again, sorry for the delay. Doug Roberson
