forrest flame

Question
My wife has recently bought two young forrest flame plants could you please tell me why they
have turned green ? thanks.

Answer
By Forest flame plants I take it to mean they are Pieris "forest flame", the common name is Forest flame Andromeda. This Andromeda, like all others, will have reddish leaves when they emerge from the buds, but will mature to a deep green color. This is the nature of the plants. Make sure that you give them long, deep waterings the first year to help them establish a strong root system. Acidic fertilizers are also recommended.
