Is it OK to mulch Azaleas with fresh cut wood chips or is that to much acid for the plants?

I would recommend using composted mulch instead of fresh wood chips. Fresh wood chips will not only pull nutrients out of the soil during their normal weathering period, but they also release heat which could damage the fine roots of the plants.
