flame of the forest

Question
I have got a flame of the forest which i have had a number of years and it now stands about 4 foot high can you tell me how and when i can cut it down a bit thank you Mandy

Answer
Mandy,

I would recommend that you wait until after they are done flowering to do the pruning. Pieris flowers on old wood, so pruning before they flower or late in the season will remove the flower buds.

As for the instructions on pruning, I would recommend that you do not go too crazy when pruning, but cut the branches back selectively.

Good luck,
Ed Gulliksen
