tomato fertilizer

Question
Lynette, You responded to me some time ago advising tomato fertilizer to stimulate blooms (mine only bloomed once last summer). You recommended higher potassium; is that listed on the label as Potash? Otherwise, I can't see it on any label. Miracle Grow is what I have, and it's 28% Nitrogen, 18% Phosphate and 21% Potash. Appreciate any help you can give me.

Answer
It's easy to remember what the three numbers are for on a fertilizer label. The first makes the plants grow, the second makes the flowers grow and the third makes the roots grow. A simple sort of way to remember without having to think about chemicals. The middle number on your Miracle gro is the one that is potassium. However it appears that you have a rose which only blooms once a year. Because if giving it fertilizer has not activated it into another bloom thenm it is definately a once blooming rose. Many of the shrub type roses are only once blooming. Lynnette
