Knockout roses, powdery look to them

Question
I have a group of five bushes.  Three are doing fine...blooming, growing significantly this spring.  Two that are side by side have a white powdery look to their leaves and they ( the leaves) are kind of curled up.  There are buds on it but only one has bloomed at this point.  It looks like a disease. Thanks for the help
Mike

Answer
From your description your roses have powdery mildew on them.  If the powdery mildew isn't a severe infection, try this homemade spray: 1 tbsp. baking soda, 1 tbsp. Canola oil  and a gallon of water, or try store-bought remedies for mildew.  Also if a rose is under stress from the roots drying out, powdery mildew will take advantage of the plant抯 lower resistance. Some roses get mildew quickly when their roots are dry. Damp, low sunshine weather conditions also encourage downy powdery type. This disease is very infectious and that is why the rose next has and so will spread to the others. If the new growth is distorted just cut it off to encourage new healthy growth.
