Trimming hipps off Knock out roses

This is my second year of knock out roses and they are beautiful. But most of the petals fell off after our recent storms. Can I trim off the hipps to allow more growth? Many thanks!

Knock Out roses are classified as modern shrubs which mean you don't have to deadhead them if you don't want to because they will still produce more growth plus lots of blooms. But if you only have a few roses then by all means tidy them up by taking the dead flowers off.
