knockout roses sprayed with weed killer

Question
I recently did the most horrible stupid thing ever..  I had weeds that were coming up all around my beautiful knockouts, I decided to attach ortho weed b gone max to my spray hose and kill the weeds, however the weed killer did get on my my roses..  they have become limp and the leaves are starting to turn brown on them. Have I killed them, they do have some green leaves left on them, is there anything I can do.. Please help save my beautiful floweres....  Thank you

Answer
Don't panic as you may be able to save them if you cut them right back to about 12 inches, take ALL the leaves off and then and then water daily and see if you can dilute the insect spray. Taking the leaves off will put the rose bush into a dormant state for about a week and stop making new leaves. However when the bush starts to wake up will produce normal new growth if it hasn't been permanently damaged. If they still don't put out normal growth then grit your teeth and cut them right back to 3 inches. This is drastic but it just may save them. Don't give them any fertilizer as they are suffering already from a chemical burn. It may take about a month before they are back to normal but don't give up as the 3 inches could be the answer. Roses are able to grow back from one inch of canes.
