Standard Rose is wilting

Question
Hi

Please can you help me, I recently brought a patio standard rose and it's looked beautiful until just very recently it's started wilting and looks lethargic and unhealthy.  I don't know what to do can you advise me please?

Kind regards
Kathleen

Answer
Because a rose tree has a very long cane as a base, it takes an extra amount of water to reach the top. When any rose is just planted, you always have to give it more water than usual. I would make a trough all around the base of the rose and keep filling it up with water until the soil is very wet. Then wait two days and do it again. If the weather is hot then do it daily until the rose starts to perk up and make new leaves. Then give it some fish fertilizer as a foliar feed as well as fertilizing the soil.  This is a gentle fertilizer and will help the rose to recover. Again if your weather is hot, then that is the problem with your rose. It has gone under stress because of the heat plus the transplanting. Planting a rose in the summer is always a tricky thing to do unless the rose will not get any afternoon sunshine.
